The objections come from conversations and interviews the church has had with unchurched twenty and thirty-somethings at coffee houses. The "Christian bubble" essentially takes people from society and puts them into a subculture that wants nothing to do with the larger culture.

Kimball's take on how emerging generations view both Jesus and the church is one that creates tension in anyone who wants to both hold true to the Biblical Jesus and also reach out in a relevant way to people in today's culture.

Thank you Dan Kimball for a beautiful book. There was a time, even in the United States, when church was where it was happening. They Like Jesus but Not the Church: This book did challenge me at points. Besides for our own diffidence, we also emergentf to deal with the loss of emergene community-based aspect of church. No doubt we can be offensive, rude and inconsiderate and sure our arguments can be a bit simplistic but all in a very British kind of way.
